Michele Zimmerman-Pike,
CNM
I have been drawn to
women’s health care and assisting with births
since childhood. As I got older and birthed my
own children my desire matured to include
wanting mothers to feel their strength in
birthing and nurturing. I am committed to
providing evidence-based care that is
woman-centered and respectful of your informed
choices. I am honored to be a part of Birth Care
which is a truly unique practice, preserving
women’s access to appropriate care across
settings.
In 1990 I received
my nursing degree from Emory University. Most of
my nursing experience was in neonatal intensive
care. Other nursing experiences included labor
and delivery, mother/baby, and pediatric home
care. I have also been an at-home mom, a La
Leche League leader and an attachment parenting
business owner.
In 2007 I
graduated with a Master’s Degree form Frontier
School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. In
January 2008 I became a Certified Nurse-Midwife
(CNM) and provided maternity, newborn, and well
woman care in both homes and at a birth center
Portland, Oregon.
My husband Ed and
I have five children, all wonderful empowering
births attended by midwives. Ed is an at home
dad which gives me the flexibility to attend
births at any time. My hobbies include running,
reading, permaculture gardening, and watching my
children play a variety of sports. Personal
birth experience includes both home and hospital
birth, as well as twins.
