Valerie Peery CNM, MSN
I
am a certified nurse midwife (CNM). I
had all my six children at home, five boys
and a girl. I have worked off
and on as a labor and delivery nurse and as
a well baby nursery nurse in and around
Philadelphia where my women were high risk
with many problems. I had many useful
experiences and learned much about problem
pregnancies and deliveries.
From 1994 to 2001, I worked for Birth Care
in Quarryville part-time. For the past
several years, I have had my own CNM
business, doing home birth and attending
births at Ephrata hospital. My
daughter Emily was my secretary and birth
assistant, but she decided after several
years that she wanted to return to early
childhood education. My son’s wife
Melissa (and my granddaughter Riley) have
helped in my office for several years.
When Birth Care was looking for another full
time midwife, it became clear to my husband
and me that we should merge my practice with
Birth Care. I continue to attend births at
Ephrata Hospital, at home, and now at our
beautiful new birth center. I love working
with Maribeth and Jill, and I appreciate
Birth Care doing the administrative side of
the practice, a part I never enjoyed.
My husband Chuck and I have been together
for 37 years, and we have six wonderful
grown children, three of them married, and
four wonderful grandchildren. We live
in Paradise and raise Border Collie dogs for
fun.
