It is all about you. Care throughout your lifespan
At Birth Care, it’s all about you. Our team of highly educated, licensed certified nurse-midwives and women’s health nurse practitioners give you information and make recommendations, but it is you who makes choices for yourself and your family.

We strongly believe in holistic health at Birth Care. Women come to us for needs beyond pregnancy and birth. We can help with infertility, birth control, and menopausal issues. We also see women for routine well-woman annual visits (ie. Pap smears) and evaluate for common gynecological issues. Referrals to local holistic and traditional healthcare services can be written as fit.

Why Birth Care?
Birth Care and Family Health Services is a non-profit birth and women's health care center devoted to empowering women to take charge of their health care. Try a water birth for excellent pain management without medications. Labor in your own clothes, in any position you wish. Snack in labor, or go outside for a walk. You have options here. We attend births at our freestanding birth center and we also have privileges to attend births at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

We opened the first birth center in Pennsylvania in 1978. We are accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC). We boast the lowest rate of primary cesarean section in the area.

Why a Midwife?
Compared to care provided exclusively by physicians, midwife-led care is associated with lower rates of unnecessary interventions, higher chances of vaginal birth, reduced risk of preterm birth, and higher chances of a successful start to breastfeeding. Research shows that women and their families are tend to have greater satisfaction with midwifery care than they do with physician-led care.  In addition to evidence-based care with improved health outcomes, midwives’ high-touch, low-tech approach is associated with lower costs for clients and insurers. Midwives take time to listen to you. Midwives believe that childbearing is normal and that you and your family should create the birth experience that will be meaningful to you.

We appreciate your donations!
