Who We Are:
Birth Care was founded in 1978 as the first Birth Center in Pennsylvania, and has been supporting mothers and families for more than 40 years! (Read about how Birth Care started here.) Throughout those many years, we have had the privilege of welcoming more than 7,000 babies to the world. The Certified Nurse-Midwives at Birth Care promote family-centered childbirth and respect a woman's right to control her birth experience. We provide prenatal, birth & postpartum care, and well-baby care through four weeks of life.

In providing information on a wide choice of medical, natural and alternative therapies.In each woman's right to informed choice in the use of medical tests, recommendations and interventions.Midwives are experts in normal birth and doctors are specialists for problems. We work with supportive backup physicians when necessary. Every woman has the right to give birth where she feels most safe and comfortable. Research has shown that healthy, low-risk women can birth safely in a free-standing birth center.

Birth Care and Family Health Services is a non-profit, life-affirming birth and women’s health center, specializing in the care of women throughout the life span. Our mission is to provide safe, sensitive and satisfying midwifery care to families within our diverse community without regard to ability to pay. Birth Care has a special ministry to providing quality care without discrimination for families of all social, religious, ethnic and economic backgrounds. Birth Care offers comprehensive health care by women for women of all ages.

We believe in the health of pregnancy and birth and in every woman’s power to give birth naturally with minimal intervention. We take special pride in our goal to welcome babies with gentle and loving hands.Additional care by our certified nurse-midwives includes comprehensive prenatal care, as well as childbirth and breastfeeding classes; well woman gynecological care (annual exams and pap smears), gynecologic problem visits, and family planning. We offer care and counseling for older women facing their unique health changes. Birth Care offers all routine laboratory testing and medication prescriptions, and works closely with collaborating physicians when necessary.
