She worked her way up from bookkeeper, childbirth educator and birthing assistant to become the director of nursing. She delivered two of her children at the birth center, and her daughter completed the circle by also delivering at Birth Care. |
Jennifer MichaelTriage Nurse
When you call the triage nurse option on your phone tree, Jennifer is the one you will speak to. Not only is she knowledgeable about most problems, but she is behind the phone most days of the week and knows your story. If she has questions about your care, she will consult with the midwife. |
Jessica Weicksel, LPNJessica is a Lancaster County, PA native who has been serving mothers and babies at Birth Care since 2003. She has attended more than 700 births! Jessica lives on a farm, raises Scottish Highland cattle, and is renowned as a fantastic cook. |
Kate Loving Shenk, RN, BSNKate Loving Shenk RN BSN has been a nurse for three decades. She is a writer and author of "The Prayer Prescription Series," and nine other books currently on Amazon. Kate is a podcaster and blogger, and has several You Tube stations and conducts regular "Google Hangouts," as well as a radio show where she interviews new authors who write life changing books. Paula ShanksPaula brings decades of experience to Birth Care, which includes years of working on the labor and delivery unit at Women and Babies Hospital. She was raised in Connecticut, and spent many happy years raising dairy cows.

Stacey Walter, RN, BSNStacey has 30-plus years of obstetrical nurse experience within the hospital setting. After a brief period away from women's health, Stacey joined Birth Care in March, 2018, and feels blessed to be able to care for our clients. In her free time, Stacey enjoys spending time with her husband, George; and her sons, Daniel and Douglas and his fiancee, Claire.

Diane Wenger, RNDiane is a nurse at Birth Care who enjoys helping women achieve fulfilling births. She has four children, who she home schools, and has been with Birth Care for many years.

Katy Uniake, LPNKaty has a long history with Birth Care, and has assisted at births for many years. She is teaching herself the “Pennsylvania Dutch” dialect used by our Amish clients, much to their delight! She is an emergency medical technician at the Wakefield Ambulance Company in Lancaster County, and teaches the obstetric component of courses for emergency care personnel.
